What’s a better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with sprinkle cookies!?
These Valentine’s Day Sprinkle Cookies are fun and festive, but most importantly, they’re delicious!

These cookies are super soft and fluffy and have that classic “funfetti” cake flavor. You also can swap the red and pink sprinkles for other colors, which makes these cookies the perfect addition to any celebration.

Prep time: 1 hour and 15 minutes (includes time for chilling)
Cook time: 12 – 14 minutes (per batch)
Total time: 2 hours and 30 minutes
Yields: ~20 cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature (2 sticks)
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp clear vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (scooped and leveled)
- 2/3 cup milk powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/3 cup red sprinkles
- 1/3 cup pink sprinkles
Instructions:
- Using a hand or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugars together in a large bowl on high until smooth, about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl.
- Add the eggs and clear vanilla extract and mix on high for 6-8 more minutes. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl halfway through and again at the end. The dough should be homogenous and you shouldn’t see any pockets of unmixed butter or sugar.
- Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, milk powder, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients all at once and mix on low just until combined (about 30-45 seconds). Add the red and pink sprinkles and mix just until combined by hand using a rubber spatula.
- Feel free to add as many or as little sprinkles as you want. I like to start with 1/4 cup of each and then go from there.
- Using a cookie scooper, scoop the dough into balls (or roll by hand) and place on a plate or baking sheet. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the cookie dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper a few inches apart and bake for 12-14 minutes (or until the sides start to firm and the center is no longer gooey). For reference, my cookies took about 12 minutes. Depending on how your oven cooks, you may want to rotate the cookie sheet 180 degrees halfway through to ensure your cookies are evenly cooked.
- Cool the cookies on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Enjoy!
